What the enemy has decreed for you will be turned back on him!
In Numbers 22 paints a picture where Balak had sent for the prophet Balaam. Verse 5 (using the Amplified) shows his reason why:
“There is a people who have come out of Egypt; behold, they cover the surface of the land, and they are living opposite me. 6 Now please come, curse these people for me, for they are too powerful for me; perhaps I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know [your reputation] that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”
Hear this of you- YOU HAVE COME OUT OF EGYPT! You’re walking in step with the Lord, you’ve broken bondages of the past, you’re journeying to your promised land to fulfill the Lord’s purposes for you...you’re out of Egypt! Praise God!
You cover the surface of the land! You’re multiplying. You’re outgrowing the old space of yesterday and growing into new levels of stewardship. Your tent pegs are stretching! Praise God!
You are living opposite the enemy. While this is written that they lived right in front of or in plain sight of Balak, I read this translated and marvel at the other English meaning. You’re living OPPOSITE to the purposes and plans of the enemy. Praise God!
You are equipped with a power (of God) that’s too powerful for the enemy to overcome! He attempts a curse because he can not overcome the purposes of Heaven over you. Praise God!
Now INSTEAD of the curses...come the BLESSINGS.
When Balaam goes to curse the people, God can only let them be blessed!
“9 For from the top of the rocks I see Israel,
And from the hills I look at him.
Behold, the people [of Israel] shall dwell alone
And will not be reckoned among the nations.
10 “Who can count the dust (the descendants) of Jacob
And the number of even the fourth part of Israel?
Let me die the death of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God],
And let my end be like his!”
11 Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but here you have [thoroughly] blessed them instead!”
Instead of death or driving them out, they are blessed with increase! **Where you are being threatened by the enemy is the very place the Lord has planned increase for you**.
Balak tries a second time. Balaams blessing gets more emphatic.
19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
20 I have received a command to bless;
he has blessed, and I cannot change it.
21 “No misfortune is seen in Jacob,
no misery observed in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them;
the shout of the King is among them.
22 God brought them out of Egypt;
they have the strength of a wild ox.
23 There is no divination against Jacob,
no evil omens against Israel.
It will now be said of Jacob
and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’
24 The people rise like a lioness;
they rouse themselves like a lion
that does not rest till it devours its prey
and drinks the blood of its victims.”
God does not lie or give false hope. He doesn’t change His mind about you or His good plans. He fulfills what He speaks. There will be shouts over your testimonies of “come see what God has done!!”
Then a third time, their enemy tries to curse the Israelites. But again they are blessed, and look what happens...
5“The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor,
the prophecy of ONE WHOSE EYES SEE CLEARLY
4 the prophecy of ONE WHO HEARS THE WORDS OF GOD, who SEES A VISION FROM THE ALMIGHTY,
who falls prostrate, and WHOSE EYES ARE OPENED:
5 “How beautiful are your tents,Jacob,
your dwelling places, Israel!
6 “Like valleys they spread out,
like gardens beside a river,
like aloes planted by the Lord,
like cedars beside the waters.
7 Water will flow from their buckets;
their seed will have abundant water.
“Their king will be greater than Agag;
their kingdom will be exalted.
8 “God brought them out of Egypt;
they have the strength of a wild ox.
They devour hostile nations
and break their bones in pieces;
with their arrows they pierce them.
9 Like a lion they crouch and lie down,
like a lioness-who dares to rouse them?
“May those who bless you be blessed
and those who curse you be cursed!”
After the attempts of the enemy at cursing them, the prophetic eyes are OPENED! 2020- our perfect vision year- eyes are being opened!! Opened to see the purposes God has for His people. Flowing water (of the Spirit), abundant seed (of the gospel), deliverance from Egypt and strength not to go back, and being able to bless and curse in alignment with the will of God. THIS is what’s really happening once again today.
As the enemy has tried to silence you, so he will be silenced.
As the enemy has tried to make you afraid, so he will fear the plans of the Lord for His people.
As the enemy has tried to isolate, so will every nation, tribe, and tongue unite in praise.
So look to the areas of damage where you have suffered loss or restriction or fear. These are the places within your life that God is RAISING UP. Just as Haman got the script flipped on him for Mordecai’s blessing, so shall it be according to God’s will. So look to your struggles and BE ENCOURAGED! They are evidence of a coming breakthrough that the enemy cannot overcome.
The greatest part?
The account in Numbers doesn’t end with their enemy not being able to curse them. Balak proceeds to curse God’s enemies FOUR times (which is one more than the enemy ever tried to curse them!). Do not fear what the enemy is trying to curse, but hear God’s blessings and GAIN YOUR NEW 2020 VISION for the greater plans God has for His people!
