Obey My Commands

If you’ve been seeing 111 recently, this message is for you. You’re in the process of “possessing new land”, and now is a time of obey commands. “You shall therefore love the LORD your God, and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.” Deuteronomy 11:1 Often times we hear this and think obeying the Ten Commandments. Obey is defined by google as “submit to the authority of”, “carry out a command or instruction”, or “behave in accordance with”. Command can be defined as, “an instruction or signal that causes to perform a basic function”, or “to be in a strong enough position to have or secure something”. God is SPEAKING instructions and signals to you right now. The purpose is to cause you to respond accordingly. God doesn’t just tell these things to you. He COMMANDS these things because He has a strong enough to position to know YOU HAVE IT. HE HAS SECURED IT. By definition. The word I was given today was about our OBEYING. This isn’t a hearing, acknowledgment, or even simply a doing. It encompasses our entire attitude and approach. To SUBMIT (or defer) to what God is commanding implies that there is a warring tendency in ourselves that needs to be submitted. Holding sight over faith, desiring a different way, fear, worry, etc can all war with what God is commanding over our lives. To obey, we must BEHAVE IN ACCORDANCE with what God is saying. If He’s speaking one thing and your circumstances say another, live in accordance with what He says. It may seem like the furthest outcome from possible, but if God has commanded it, our response is to behave in accordance with it. The reason why is hidden right there in the meaning of the word obey. To obey IS to carry out. Part of the carrying out is literally in our living out. By obeying we carry out His commandments and instructions EVEN BEFORE WE SEE THEM COME TO PASS.
